\"To deprive people of their human rights is to call into question their very humanity.<\/em>\"said Nelson Mandela, South African activist of the fundamental guarantees. Every year on December 10, the day on which the proper and inalienable rights of every human being were proclaimed, which recognize their condition and human dignity above race, color, religion, sex, social origin, political or other opinions, and any other factor that seeks to generate differentiation between individuals, is remembered.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2018 marks the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.<\/strong> proclaimed at the United Nations General Assembly in Paris in 1948. The text, translated into 500 languages, was drafted by representatives of diverse legal and cultural contexts around the world and its intention is to rescue and expose the universal values that define human dignity, highlighting that all human beings have the same value and therefore, the same rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The quest for International Human Rights Day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The drafting of this document laid the groundwork for a just world and committed the States<\/strong> The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), which has resulted in the strengthening of the human dignity of millions of people, is a reference framework for nations in the defense of these fundamental guarantees. In fact, its thirty articles constitute a frame of reference for nations in the defense of these fundamental guarantees. Its letters have endured over time and have supported countless struggles, demonstrating the universality of its values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This instrument was inspired by the need for justice in the face of acts of violence and barbarism that have been committed in violation of human rights.<\/strong>. Its last article emphasizes that nothing in the Declaration may be interpreted as conferring any right on the State, a group or an individual to undertake and develop activities aimed at the suppression of any of the established rights and freedoms proclaimed in the text.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first right safeguarded in this document dictates that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.<\/strong>. Life, liberty and security are among the first rights highlighted, followed by freedom and the prohibition of slavery in any form and under any circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also rescues the right to not to be subjected to torture<\/a>cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment<\/strong>to move freely and to decide the place of residence. Civil guarantees such as the acquisition of nationality, the right to property and other considerations necessary for life as a citizen are also established. The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights<\/a> is the body that monitors compliance with these fundamental guarantees in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among its functions is the strengthening of international human rights mechanisms.<\/strong>The main objectives of the project are: combating impunity and strengthening accountability, promoting equality and the rule of law, incorporating universal guarantees into development plans and the international economic sphere, expanding the democratic system as a form of government for nations, creating mechanisms that provide early warning of possible human rights violations and, of course, protecting human rights in special situations of conflict, violence and insecurity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
