It can lead to additional controls at borders, police inquiries, reviews of regulatory compliance, and reputational or banking consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Furthermore, these notifications are not necessarily public. Therefore, a person may learn that there is an international problem without knowing exactly what information is being handled, who introduced it, or for what purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, there is a specific mechanism for exercising rights regarding the data processed by INTERPOL: the <strong>Commission for the Control of INTERPOL's Files<\/strong>, CCF is known by its English acronym, CCF. The information circulates through the INTERPOL system and is subject to its rules regarding purpose, quality, relevance, fundamental rights and neutrality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is an Orange Notification the same as a Red Notification?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The categories correspond to different purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Red notification:<\/strong> requests the location and provisional detention of a person wanted to be prosecuted or to serve a sentence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Blue notification:<\/strong> seeking to obtain additional information about the identity, whereabouts, or activities of a person related to a criminal investigation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Green notification:<\/strong> Warns about criminal activities by a person who may pose a threat to public safety.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Orange notification:<\/strong> Warns of a grave and imminent threat linked to a person, event, object, process, or modus operandi.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Yellow notification:<\/strong> It helps to locate missing persons or identify people who cannot identify themselves.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Black notification:<\/strong> requests information about unidentified bodies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Notification Residence:<\/strong> provides information about methods, objects, devices, or concealment techniques used by criminals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Platino notification:<\/strong> It currently operates in a pilot phase to help locate and track assets of criminal origin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is also the <strong>Special notification INTERPOL\u2013United Nations Security Council<\/strong>, linked to persons and entities subject to certain sanctions by the Security Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The important thing for a person affected is not to memorize the color, but to identify it. <strong>What kind of information actually exists in the INTERPOL Information System and what purpose does it serve?<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can a Orange Notice be used to arrest someone?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The existence of a Orange Notice should not be confused with an international arrest warrant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">INTERPOL notifications are instruments of police cooperation. That source is usually a National Central Bureau of INTERPOL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The source may request restrictions on communication, but such restrictions must be justified in accordance with applicable rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore, the result of an access request can vary depending on the nature of the data, the source, and the legally permissible restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How long does a request to the CCF take?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The deadlines must be explained in precise terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In accordance with the Statute of the Commission:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>one <strong>access request<\/strong> It must be decided, in general terms, within the <strong>four months<\/strong> following the date on which it has been declared admissible;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>one <strong>request for correction or removal<\/strong> It must be decided, in general terms, within the <strong>nine months<\/strong> following their admissibility.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Commission may extend these deadlines when the circumstances of the case justify it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, the CCF itself has publicly acknowledged delays resulting from the increase in its workload. class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Knowing your limits is as important as knowing your strengths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Commission cannot:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul about the entire judicial system of a country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes, it can, however, decide whether the data processed by INTERPOL complies with its own rules and, when they do not, order or trigger the corresponding corrective or deletion measures within the Organization's system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Notification, Dissemination and messages between countries: why it matters to distinguish them<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not all information that circulates through international police cooperation has the same nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <strong>Notification<\/strong> It is published through the formal mechanisms of INTERPOL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the 93rd General Assembly of INTERPOL, held in 2025, amendments to the Commission\u2019s Statute were approved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among them, the scope of the review regarding direct communications between National Central Offices was specified, and other rules regarding the functioning of the Commission were introduced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2026, the new secure online portal for submitting and managing applications also went into operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, the CCF initiated a pilot project to more evenly distribute decision-making throughout the year, increasing remote review of files and expanding certain class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>request for access;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>request for correction;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>request for removal;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>contribution of new resolutions or documents;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>actions before the authorities of the country of origin;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>coordination with an extradition defense;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>travel risk review;
